Well HELLO! How do people start their first ever blog posts? Or are blogs still a thing now? Who cares, millennials don't!

So as a first post, let's talk about a first, which was the first time I've ever left the comforts of my home.
One year and a little bit more ago, I decided to say goodbye to my family, my friends, my car, my oh so comfortable bed to come to the Philippines for work.
Just one of the many areas I walk through everyday
What made me want to leave everything behind to go to a foreign land where I didn't know anything? You will find out as the time moves on.

Some people thought that I would cave and miss home the moment I set foot in the Philippines, but the reality is that I was really prepared to get out of my comfort zone and start a new and make a mark in somewhere I've never been to. Most people also asked me, why Philippines? And my answer to that is, WHY NOT?

Why not venture out to somewhere you're not familiar? Why not venture into something that will make you afraid, wherever it may be? Just why not?
The area is super artsy fartsy, they change this sign every few months
And to be completely honest, I am having the time of my life here! The area I am at is beautiful, the Filipino people are one of the friendliest and most approachable people I know, my area is relatively safe (I can't say much of the other areas) and most of all, my office is literally a walking distance away. (what a score!)

It did however take me a while to finally have the ultimate courage to leave my comfort zone though, I mean, don't get me wrong, there were plenty of opportunities that allowed me to leave my country, but all those times, my heart was never ready, or my heart was telling me that it was not the time yet. There would always be something holding me back.

So finally after 3 years of procrastinating, I finally had the guts to take that leap of faith and just go forth into the unknown and it has been the best decision I've made in my life.

You will never get bored of the choices they have here in the area, unless if you are like me, a Malaysian, who is super used to the spices of Malaysia. Other than that, everything else is great!

If you want to read more about what I've learnt so far being in the Philippines, you can check out a note I wrote on Linkedin on the 6 things I learnt while being in the Philippines, it was sort of a 6 month review for my time here.
